The Grand Palace Hotel boasts stunning architecture and friendly staff. but my experience was marred by some issues. The location is inviting, close to the city center, but I faced problems with the room amenities and breakfast. Overall, I admired the ambiance, but the hotel fell short in certain areas during my stay.

Rooms
5.0
The room was spacious, definitely designed with elegance in mind. however, it had a musty smell, and the drains were blocked, leading to flooding. The malfunctioning AC made it difficult to get a decent night's sleep as well.
Service
6.0
The staff were genuinely kind and courteous. though they seemed overwhelmed during peak times, leading to slow service and a lack of attention to detail at breakfast. They did help rectify issues when reported, but it felt a bit hit or miss.
Location
7.0
The hotel's location is quite central and walkable to attractions like the Sultan's Palace. however, it is in a narrow alley, which made transportation a bit tricky during busy times.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast had potential but was chaotic and lacked a variety of options. the food quality varied with the volume of guests, which was disappointing given the hotel's other amenities.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel's facilities, including the pool area, had a lovely aesthetic surrounded by greenery. but the pool was quite small, and noise levels from other guests often disrupted the peace.

My stay at The Grand Palace Hotel Yogyakarta had its highlights but was overshadowed by several issues. The architecture of the hotel is truly impressive, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. However, I faced significant challenges with room conditions and the breakfast experience, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of my visit.

The room assigned to me had a lingering unpleasant odor and cleanliness issues, including mould on the ceiling and stained linens. I also experienced problems with the air conditioning.

The staff members were really nice and did their best to help, but the overall service felt inconsistent, particularly during busy breakfast hours.
Location
7.0
The hotel is conveniently located, not too far from the airport and city attractions, although it is a bit far from major shopping areas.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was mainly focused on local dishes, which was a bit disappointing for someone looking for a wider variety of options. Some items were not up to standard.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel's pool area was lovely and well-decorated, but other facilities like room service and in-room amenities left something to be desired.

The Grand Palace Hotel has a stunning facade reminiscent of a Roman palace, and the friendly staff certainly added warmth to my stay. However, the rooms left much to be desired, with many cleanliness issues and poor ventilation. While the location is away from the tourist hustle, I found it inconvenient for accessing major attractions.

Rooms
5.0
The deluxe room upgrade was disappointing, with stains on the floor and faded bedding. The smaller standard room felt more comfortable, although the bathroom was cramped and oddly arranged.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and accommodating, and communicated well in English. They attempted to address my complaints, although there were some misunderstandings.
Location
6.0
The hotel is situated quite far from main tourist attractions like Malioboro street, but there are local eateries nearby. This could be a plus if you prefer a less touristy experience.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast leaned heavily on traditional Indonesian fare, which I appreciated, though options were limited. I experienced inconsistencies in the quality of the food served.
Facilities
6.0
The pool area was a lovely retreat, and the hotel has a nice ambiance. However, maintenance seemed lacking in some areas.

Overall, my stay at The Grand Palace Hotel Yogyakarta was a mixed bag. I enjoyed the beautiful decoration and greenery around the hotel, which created a relaxing atmosphere. The staff were genuinely nice and helpful, allowing me to book various activities. However, my room had some cleanliness issues and the bathroom was disappointingly small. The breakfast had potential, but cleanliness issues with the fruit were a concern.

Rooms
6.0
The room was clean and cozy with a nice view of the pool and surrounding trees, but I did notice stains and hair on the sheets, which was quite unpleasant. The bathroom was very small and felt inadequate for a hotel of this caliber.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. They assisted me with bookings and were efficient in getting my omelette and tea without sugar prepared. However, I felt some services, like breakfast assistance, could have been improved.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location is quite good, close to the city center and various attractions despite a bit of a distance to some popular spots. It felt serene, surrounded by lovely greenery.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast offered a variety of Indonesian dishes, including noodles and rice. However, I was disappointed by the fruit presentation as it attracted flies, which detracted from the dining experience. The omelette was also not very successful on one occasion.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel boasts a nice pool and lovely courtyard area, contributing to a relaxing atmosphere. Still, I encountered some maintenance issues with my room that diminished the overall experience.

My stay at The Grand Palace Hotel Yogyakarta was a mixed experience. While the hotel has an impressive facade and friendly staff, the room cleanliness and overall conditions left much to be desired. The breakfast options were mainly local cuisine, which I found to be a bit limited compared to what I expected. Overall, I appreciated the staff's helpfulness, but the issues with my room significantly impacted my stay.

Rooms
5.0
I started in a deluxe room which was anything but deluxe, with stains on the floor and a faint sewage odor in the bathroom. When I downgraded to a standard room, it was smaller but felt slightly more comfortable, albeit with a very cramped bathroom.
Service
8.0
The staff were incredibly friendly and eager to assist, which I appreciated very much. They spoke good English and tried their best to resolve my issues promptly.
Location
6.0
The hotel's location was decent, about a ten-minute walk to the square, but it was quite far from Marliboro Street. I felt I needed transport to explore nearby areas.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was primarily local dishes which didn't appeal to me, and dining options were quite limited. However, I enjoyed the Lamb Egg Fried Rice I ordered for dinner.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities like the pool were nice and provided a relaxing space amidst the hustle of Yogyakarta. However, the overall upkeep of the hotel could be improved.
